Xi’an Zhouzhi Water Street Lighting Project
Release Date:2026-07-15
With the core goal of "Revitalizing Night Economy and Infusing Ancient Street with Fresh Vitality", the lighting project of Xi’an Zhouzhi Water Street creates a nightscape system integrating profound cultural heritage and modern aesthetic sense, drawing on the water town scenery unique to northern China and the architectural features of Guanzhong folk customs.
Centered on the core tourist routes of the water street, the project implements layered lighting for the antique building complex, river water systems and green landscapes. Golden warm light is adopted as the main tone. Wall washers and spotlights outline the delicate contours of ancient architectural brackets and eaves, showcasing the grand and powerful charm of Qin and Tang styles. LED light strips arranged along the river shimmer together with water reflections, forming a poetic scene of "twinkling lights mirrored on water". Artistic decorative lights are installed on trees across the scenic area to enrich the spatial layers at night.
This lighting project not only improves the night recognition and ornamental value of the scenic spot, but also extends tourists’ staying hours and directly boosts the development of night businesses including catering, cultural and creative stores, and homestays. Statistics show that after the project completion, the night passenger flow of the water street increased by over 60%, and merchants’ revenue rose by more than 45%. It has been honored as a Demonstration Zone of Night Economy in Shaanxi Province. Meanwhile, the project adheres to energy conservation and environmental protection concepts. An intelligent dimming system dynamically adjusts brightness according to different time periods, balancing outstanding visual effects with low energy consumption and achieving a win-win situation for cultural tourism benefits and ecological protection. It serves as a benchmark model for the integrated development of cultural tourism in Northwest China.
